G'day pips!! Today is Monday, May 5th. We had a wonderful and full day in Canberra, Aussie's capital. This morning, we drove to a hillside that overlooks the city for a lil History talk by Charlie and pics of the city. Then we went to Parliament at 9am and had a tour of the building, including the House of Representatives and Senate. The Australian governmental system is a hybrid of both the American and British systems. After the guided tour of the Parliament building, we went to the U.S. Embassy and spoke with U.S. governmentalists (one woman named Anita is originally from Binghamton, NY...isn't that cool?). After the talk and a brief tour of the grounds at the Embassy, we grabbed a quick lunch. In the afternoon, we walked along the ANZAC parade, which is similar to The Mall in D.C. There were various monuments honoring Austraian soldiers along the parade. Then we went to the ANZAC War Museum; the coolest place ever. The Museum was very well organized and illustrated Australia's involvement in past wars including WWI, WWII, Vietnam and Korean Wars, etc. Tomorrow, we are taking a plane to Brisbane. So excited!! Australia is wonderful :)
